Web Design & Development
Design and Planning
Our starting point for every web design project is a thorough briefing session with the client. Through structured dialogue, we build up a clear understanding of the brand values of the website and the overall corporate objectives. We explore communication needs, aims and objectives, and identify core target audiences.
Based on the conclusions reached at the briefing meeting, we then sketch out a site map in conjunction with the client to determine the most efficient approach to structure and navigation.
We then create wireframes. The purpose of a wireframe is to communicate the layout of a page without getting caught up in the design elements. Wireframes can save a lot of time as they help all parties involved come to an agreement on placement of major page elements such as headers, content areas, navigation menus and footers. The wireframes are the blueprint that define a web site’s content and functionality. They help to highlight new requirements and raises questions that perhaps have not been previously addressed.
We don’t begin the web build until the design and site structure has been approved by the client.
Our non-proprietary CMS development framework forms the basis of all the websites we construct. It allows us to build fully bespoke CMS solutions to match or exceed all client requirements whilst maintaining an easy to use environment for non-technical editors.
Our framework has been used as the basis for a large number of websites of all sizes from small commercial brochure sites to larger governmental portals. We have used the system to develop ecommerce platforms, booking forms, calendar/availability systems and much more. The system is fully capable of being used to construct and manage almost any type of content imaginable.
A key feature of our CMS is that it separates the design of the website from the content, making it simple to manage the editing and publishing elements. The visual aspects of the website, such as font sizes, colours and position, are all managed by the site-wide style sheets. This ensures complete consistency across the entire website – regardless of which editor is responsible for the content.
Uploading photos and images for use on the website is a very simple process thanks to our image manipulation software; you can simply upload one size (the largest you have available) and it can be used anywhere on the website at whatever sizes are appropriate. All the resizing and optimising is done automatically, removing the task of pre-processing the images prior to uploading.
Search Engine Optimisation
As part of our website planning, design and development services, we also work to achieve a consistent level of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
All our websites are built with the primary objective of achieving maximum accessibility. This not only makes it easy to drive visitors to a site – it means the website can be easily found and indexed by search engines such as Google.
Google Analytics is included as standard in all the websites we produce, allowing visitor counts plus a wealth of other information to be easily tracked and monitored.
Maintenance and Support
Our standard annual maintenance fee covers not only all the hosting fees and maintenance of the system, including on-going CMS security updates, but also office hour telephone and email support for any assistance users may require with day to day usage of the website or CMS.
