Neil Sutherland Architects is an architectural practice based in Inverness. Their aim is to produce contemporary architecture, fit for purpose and of its time and place. MAKAR is NSA’s sister construction organisation. The two work closely together to effectively design, plan and build.

Dynam was commissioned to develop a brand for both organisations and the design of their website.

We developed a clean, simple brand that could work across the architectural and construction aspects of the company, and reflect the commitment to classic designs using sustainable materials. For Neil Sutherland, the lower case letters of the typeface are characterised by round, soft contours that suggest the fluid, creative aspects of the architectural design process. For the construction side, Dynam emphasised the upper case letters and treated the typeface so that the As looked more like roof apexes and lost their horizontal bar. The organic colours and simplicity of design for the branding and printed materials were carried through to create a simple, functional web presence perfectly expressive of the company’s commitment to clean architectural lines and natural, sustainable materials.
