In 2015, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced new flights from Inverness to Amsterdam to start in May 2016.

To celebrate the launch of KLM’s new service, Dynam was asked to create an event to promote the new route and give the locals of Inverness a feel of Amsterdam and beyond. KLM wanted the event to be family friendly and packed with fun activities and entertainment.

Dynam were responsible for managing the event, which was held in Falcon Square on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May. Management of the event included generating the initial ideas to booking all the entertainment from Scotland and beyond. In addition to this, Dynam also designed signage for the event to visualise what was going on during the day. The goal was to fill the square with KLM branding to make a real impression on the city of Inverness.

Entertainment included an African orchestra called the Ha Orchestra, hip-hop dancers, salsa dancers, and the Hong Lok dragon and lion dancing troupe. Other attractions included a tulip garden consisting of 5,000 tulips and a wooden windmill, lots of Dutch cheese to taste, plus ‘stroopwaffles’, a traditional Dutch speciality. If this wasn’t enough, there was also a kid’s area with face painting and balloon modelling.

To top off the whole event, Bluey the KLM mascot gave away two pairs of flights to any destination in the world!

Special credit goes to Scott Remy for capturing the event on film, Ewen Weatherspoon for the excellent photography, and MFR for compering.
